Step 1 is Preconstruction. We work through the design process, connect with some of the key partners, develop an early budget, and identify key features unique to your build or location that will impact design and permitting. Already having a property is excellent but may not be necessary. If you're not entirely sure if you are ready to build, this can be a reasonable step to undertake with less financial commitment to help you decide.
Step 2 involves refining the design, incorporating engineering for any unique details, and gathering remaining tender prices from subtrades to confirm budget assumptions. Depending on the materials being used, (eg. sturctural steel, timber framing, structural insulated panel) we will start reserving material orders in order to collect the subtrade engineering
Step 3 we build.
The custom timber frame home that I just finished was near Edmonton, AB. But if you are looking to build in Alberta, Yukon, BC or Ontario, let's talk.
I've been exposed to a number of different systems through my experience in commercial construction. If you want to build a custom home and are interested in implementing some unique materials I would be happy to explore it with you. In particular, a few things I find interesting or exciting are:
Before becoming a home builder, I worked on some extremely large and complex projects including a hospital build and the Westblock rehabilitation project on Parliament hill. That experience allowed me to develop an extremely adaptable construction style that lends itself well to building custom homes.
